Blackjack, also known as Vingt-et-un, Pontoon, Van-John and twenty-one, was created by the French in the late 18th century. During World War I the game became very popular with the troops, and gradually, any two-card count of 21 became known as a blackjack, and thus the game was given a new name. During World War II blackjack was the most popular banking game of the soldiers. After the war, blackjack replaced Faro as the mostly played game in the casinos of Las Vegas and Reno.

Blackjack Switch is a casino gambling game invented by Geoff Hall and patented in 2009. It is based on blackjack, but differs in that two hands, rather than one, are dealt to each playing position, and the player is initially allowed to exchange (“switch”) the top two cards between hands. Natural blackjacks are paid 1:1 instead of the standard 3:2, and a dealer hard 22 pushes all player hands except a natural.
Blackjack Switch tables typically allow a side bet, called Super Match, which rewards pairs, three-of-a-kind, two-pairs or four-of-a-kind among the four initial cards comprising the players two hands. For a 6-deck game, the Super Match bet pays out 1 to 1 if there a pair is present, 5 to 1 for three of a kind, 8 to 1 for two pairs and 40 to 1 for four of a kind

Blackjack Rule Variations
Online Blackjack has many possible rule variations that effect the house edge, the main rule variations are listed below:
Number of Decks
The number of decks used in online play generally varies from 1 to 8. All things being equal, using fewer decks decreases the house edge. This mainly reflects an increased likelihood of player blackjack, since if the players draws a ten on their first card, the subsequent probability of drawing an ace is higher with fewer decks. It also reflects a decreased likelihood of blackjack-blackjack push in a game with fewer de
Dealer Hits on soft 17
Each game has a rule about whether the dealer must hit or stand on soft 17.Substituting an “Hit on soft 17″ rule with an
“Stand on soft 17″ rule in a game benefits the player, decreasing the house edge by about 0.2%.
No Hole card rule
In most non-U.S. casinos, a ‘no hole card’ game is played, meaning that the dealer does not draw nor consult his or her second card until after all players have finished making decisions. it is almost never correct basic strategy to double or split against a dealer ten or ace, since a dealer blackjack will result in the loss of the split and double bets. The no hole card rule adds approximately 0.11% to the house edge.
Among the more profitable player options available is the choice to “double down”. This can only be done with a two card hand, before another card has been drawn. Doubling down allows you to double your bet and receive one, and only one, additional card to the hand. Some games limit that you may only double on hard sums of 9 to 11, and not on soft sums including an ace.
Double after Split
Most online blackjack games allow you to double after splitting your cards into two hands. Some games do not allow a double after a split.
After splitting your cards to form two hands, you may draw a matching card and wish to split again. Some blackjack games allow this, others do not.
Blackjack games may have different rules for resplits with aces than with other cards.
Hit Split Aces
Most blackjack games only allow you to draw a single card to split aces. Some games allow you to draw multiple cards to split aces.
Surrender, for those games that allow it, is usually not permitted against a dealer blackjack; if the dealer’s first card is an ace or ten, the hole card is checked to make sure there is no blackjack before surrender is offered. This rule protocol is consequently known as “late” surrender. The alternative, “early” surrender, gives player the option to surrender before the dealer checks for blackjack, or in a no-hole-card game. Early surrender was originally the norm in Atlantic City casinos but is much more favourable to the player.
Blackjack Strategy Software
The basic blackjack strategy is the optimum way to play your hand if you are not counting cards. This strategy is derived by computer simulation where the computer deals out millions of hands, plays them in all possible ways, and then records and analyzes the results. The basic strategy is not based on guesswork or hunches. It
is the mathematically correct way to play your hand against every dealer's upcard.
What does the basic strategy get you?
The casino's initial edge in the game of blackjack is about 5.75%, which includes the 3 to 2 payoff on player blackjacks. By employing the correct basic strategy plays it is possible to whittle down the casino's edge to about 0.5%.
Initial casino's edge 5.75%
Correct hitting and standing -3.25%
Correct doubling -1.5%
Correct pair splitting -0.5%
